Hmm, I was going to suggest using 3ds2pov, which will do everything you want,
but it appears it is no longer available. Use to be on

I rendered a pseudo lara croft using a poser model converted with it. I'm not
even sure I have the program anymore. Worth a look anyway in case I missed it.
