Thanks a bunch, the soft glow one might bother the eyes but it's better
in a way.
Keen perception, right the first time, simply gradient y texture map
having more ambient toward tops.

Yep, photons to go along with the POV-Ray 3.5 shown in the picture :-)

Hmm, you're right, slope texturing would be best. Guess Marc-Hendrik
doesn't use MegaPov though (yet!).
