Hi, there's something about the transmit feature in POV-Ray that I don't
think works quite as it should. It may be intended, so it may not be a bug,
but I will think that it should work in another way.
What I don't like is, that the rgb color of a transmitting surface is
ignored when the transmit value is above 1.
In each of the attached graphs I have a surface with a red-blue vertical
gradient (the y axis). On the top of that surface I have a transmitting
surface. You can read what the resulting color is for different transmit
values (the x axis). You can see how I think the results should be (left
column), and how they actually are (right column). You can see the
difference in the results when using different rgb values for the
transmitting surface (the different rows).
What you should note is, that in the right column the results for transmit
values above 1 is completely ignoring the surface color. I don't think it
should be that way. The way I think it should be is demonstrated in the left
column of graphs.
To read my arguments, and to reply, please see my message "Strange transmit
feature" in povray.general.
I hope to get some replies, especially from POV programmers or patch makers.
Greetings,
Rune
