This is a nice render anyway.
The "bleaching" as you called it is most likely the result of pigment color
contribution to the reflection, if I understand which part you are referring too.
'diffuse' is what controls that so if you use a low diffuse value then it won't
saturate the reflections with the objects own colors.
'reflection_falloff' controls angle dependant reflection in a way that's
somewhat like light fading except it varies the reflection from minimum to
maximum angles, so that probably wouldn't help much for this.
