I am not so sure that it is a problem of "lacking" as it is a matter
of productivity. I have tried countless GUI based modelling programs
and by the time I go through the various song and dance routines
you must do to get a few object positioned in 3D space and then assign
material properties to them I can usualy type it out in POV-Ray and
have done three or four test renders in the same amount of time.
This does not hold true for everyone but it sure does for me.
I think it would be fun to race someone sometime with computers
set up side by side to see if the hand coder can beat the GUI
modeller for a given scene.
