Attached is a further patch to make it behave properly in strange
situations. The masking out of ok_to_declare in that point is a hack,
but a harmless one, I think. Also, it was not responding well to errors
and I've plugged those two holes. Finally, there was a memory leak of 8
bytes for every macro call. Apologies.
