True, cross-eye format also hurts the eyes, more so for some than others,
and many people can't do it at all. On the other hand, Parallel format,
when presented at more than 2.5 inches, is impossible for most people to
fuse (see in stereo), and uncomfortable to even try. So if you prefer
parallel,
great! You might even be one of those rare people who can diverge your eyes
and fuse large stereo pairs without a stereoscope. Anyway, I was not meaning
to be critical. There is a standard file format for stereo images. It is
called JPS,
for JPEG-Stereo. The format calls for cross-eyed arrangement of the images
in a JPEG file (also PNS for stereo PNG files). There are a number of
programs for viewing 3D images that read JPS format files.
