I have always used ctrl+[x,c,v] to cut, copy and paste and ctrl+[d,f,g]
to repleace next, find, find next. Ever since I was using Atari, it
worked. :-)

Everything centered around the left hand and the right hand free for the
mouse or the arrow-keys.
