I just tried this:

New Scene
Create | TransSweep
Translate, Scale, Rotate as desired
Ctrl-D
Reset to Defaults
OK

The copy appears exactly at the same place the other one was.

Is the one you're trying to copy in a group? Does it happen with any
other objects?
