Hi

I have been reading all the recent posts about plugin ideas and came up
with one of my own. This comes from long and frustrating times times
spent trying to create the perfect mountain or landscape, or really
anything at all that resembles one at all. Now I am not a programmer in
any way at all so I don't know how hard this would be, though I can't
image in being all that hard. So please don't post some comment about
how hard this would be. Anyway my idea is for a height field plugin. Now
I know there are plenty of height field generators out there, some very
good like Hf-Lab. But I find that the vast majority of them are awful.
And the few good ones out there like Hf-Lab are not the easiest things
on the planet to use. It would be nice to have a plugin which could
generate hight_fields like Hf-Lab does, but instead have a nice
interface. Also, and this is the hard part it would be VERY nice if you
could have a way of manually placing heigh_field features, i.e. raise or
lower the landscape in a particular area or precisely place craters.
There are several tool out there which allow you to do this, they are
like primitive paint programs however the don't generate realistic
landscapes. Perhaps this could be better done using semi random
fractals, for example when you wanted to raise the landscape the program
could generate a random fractal like mountain. It would also be nice if
you could add realistic weathering to the landscapes, things like wind
and water erosion and dried up river beds. The last feature I have in
mind is a way to rape the landscape around different objects like a
sphere, cylinder or even a custom object. In the end I am thinking of
something along the lines of a merge between Hf-Lab, Leveler and Bryce.
