Some ideas:

Whoever is the owner of this vein he (or she) is quite anaemic. I would
gess that at least the number of red blod cells should be multiplied by
three.
What I also miss are some white blood cells (a Makrophage could be done
by blobs).
The blood serum should also be noticable maybe by some light scattering
(Oh no ... media ...). 

Just another idea. Try to use a fading light.

I really like the texturing of the blood vessel. It's good!   
Not to forget the interesting Nanobot.
