Dear Newbie Cliff,

  There is a group on this server called povray.announce.frequently-asked-questions.
There I just recently posted a list of online tutorials and faqs that are an
excellent resource for the beginner as well as the advanced user. One that should
be considered mandatory reading is the VFAQ which will save you from asking
a lot of questions that are going to pop up as you familiarize yourself with the
program. As far as modelers go most people around here who use a modeler, not
all do by the way, use Moray. There is a link to the program on the povray.org
home page.

  Before you go nuts trying all of the modelers and utilities available I
suggest you go through the docs that come with the program and work your
way through the tutuorials section. Also work your way through the example
scene files that are provided with the package. Once you have a good grasp
of the capabilities of Pov then start looking for a modeler. I have seen a
lot of people get a modeling program right away and never really learn how
Pov works and suffer for this lack of knowledge. This is of course a personal
recommendation and you are free to do as you will.
