You might want to take a look at the source code of the latest
winning IRTC image : "strike", by G. McCarter and N.B.
Their code is very well commented and very instructive about
the use of media for fire and thick smoke...

BTW, the feel of your image is better than "strike", much closer
to the idea I have of war...
