I think what you're looking for is the 'translate' keyword.  If you put 
it inside your texture block, you'll move just the texture by the amount 
specified.  So, if you put 'translate <.2,0,0>' it'll shift the floor .2 
units to the right (assuming you're using the camera position POV 
defaults to when you choose 'camera' from the insert menu)

A little time reading and following along with the tutorial in the manual 
would probably help you immensely. This and lots of other beginner topics 
are covered in exquisite detail.
