Can anyone give me some tips for complex animation in POV ray?

I am so used to 3d studio3 :-)... I find that , execpt for spinnig
objects, it is impracitcal to make a large animation with complex
movements (people walking and stuff) with POV ray, are there any
freeware tools to help (key frame animation type stuff)... Any hints
would be great...
