In my opinion, the best investment to front-end POV-Ray is MORAY - a
fully featured modeller built for POV-Ray

The best resource I ever saw was Raytracing Creations (Second Edition)
by Chris Young and Drew Wells (Waite Group Press).  But, alas, it is
out of print.  Finding a copy will not be easy, but there are some
around --- contact a 'book finder' near you.
