I've been working on my own patch for POV-Ray. It currently has 2 features:
Dispersion jitter which jitters the chosen "frequencies" of dispersion
samples (similar to area lights). See post

No_radiosity keyword similar to no_shadow or no_reflection only it affects

If I can find the time, I intend to complete the area_light code to
(optionally) include diffuse, specular, and phong components (still in the
conceptual stage). Some of my more ambitious plans which likely won't
develop are to add true diffuse photon casting, multiple scattering (via
photons) in scattering media, and refractive media.
