Hi,
I tryed to add seperate MechSim_Show_Patch() for each pice of cloth in
tshirt.pov (included in MegaPOV 1.0), instead of the show_all().
-there are some visable errors:
-a line appears on 2 of the 6 cloth pices
(i use the color=stress option)
-there is a strange edge on 3 of the 6 cloth pices
-the last pice only works if i make it one row smaller
-i suspect some problem in counting/using the face_index, but i have not
been able to find errors in my povray code.
i have put together a small HTML page with some pictures at:
http://www.geocities.com/jwstolk/tshirt_jws_problem.htm
is this a known problem ? or dit i make a mistake somewhere ?
thanks, Jaap. jws### [at] yahoocom

This is a known problem of the MechSim_Show_Patch() macro - i already
posted a workaround somewhere IIRC.

thanks, i can stop looking for what i dit wrong now...
i looked around a bit, but can findo no mention of this problem,
(and no work around either.)
can you give a small hint in this ?
- i tryed using slightly different patch_index numbers (+/- 1 etc.)
is this the way to go?
- fixing the src code (is it realy a bug, or more like a limitation ?)
- don't use MechSim_Show_Patch(), but something else. (what?)
what i would like to do is simple patern and image mapping. i don't realy
need the "show stress" texture.
i also would like to try if it is possible to generate the pices of
cloth in a differnt way:
-manualy connecting mass/patch pices together
-generate a half-round version of the flat pice of cloth
-"cutting" a pice of cloth using boolean operations (or somthing like that)
-use a mesh-generating algo to fill anny shape with triangles of reasonably
simmilar size.
-etc. (i think that enof for this weekend..)
a related Q:
-how fast/eff is pov-ray SIM ? would it be more sensible to use/write a
seperate program to do simulation, and let is produce pov-files ?
jaap.

Hi Jaap,
Christoph posted the fix in a reply to one of my posts.. just search for my name and
you
should find it, it's fairly recent (I set my posts to expire so I can't tell you which
one
exactly)
All the best,
Andy Cocker
