I was looking forward to Mega-POV 1.0, but it doesn't work for me. (It
apparently works for everyone else.) When I try to render a scene, I
only get the first line of the image. For example, if I try to render
a 768x768 square image, Mega-POV only renders the first 768 pixels
(the first line.)

I've tried the example scenes included with MegaPOV, and I've tried my
own scenes which work perfectly with POV-Ray 3.5. No matter what file
I try, it always ends up ending the render after the first line.
Oddly, there are no error messages!

For the record, if I select "Run Demo" from the Mega-POV menu, this
scene will correctly render! However this only seems to work with the
internal demo scene.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Could it be a bug in
Mega-POV? I'll list my system description at the bottom of this
message.

Thanks,
Glen

Windows 98SE
AthlonXP 1600+
256MB RAM
Mega-POV 1.0 installed
POV-Ray 3.5 installed

(Let me know if I should give any more info.)

This looks like influence of End_Row=1 fix. Would you like to quote 'Output
Options' section from Message window ? Would you like to verify if there is
+ER1 or End_Row=1 in configuration places ?

Glen,
I suspect ABX is right about there being a +ER1 on the command line
passed to megapov.

With the original POV 3.5 +ER1 and +EC1 are always taken to mean
100% - render to the end of the image. The trouble is that those who
wanted to render by row, for example, could not render just the first row.

With Megapov, if you want to render to the end, and are using
percentages, you should specify nothing for the end row or end column.
Rendering to the end is the default in both POV 3.5 and Megapov.
+ER1, if you mean 100%, was never necessary.

In fixing this it was suggested that we somehow figure out how what the
user meant by looking at other flags. I could not determine how to do this
because it is perfectly valid to specify only a +ER1 flag in which case,
did the user mean render 100% or row 1? I might guess row 1, but I
cannot be sure.

I think where we are today with Megapov at least leaves everyone
where they can render what they want from single pixel to complete image.
The side effect is that those who have been using +ER1, +EC1 directly - or
indirectly - through interfaces will have to drop the flags when they mean
100%.
Regards, Bill P.

That was indeed the problem.

Thanks,
Glen
