Whatever happened to the patches that were incorporated in TMPOV
(Twyst's compilation)? One function I miss is hf_height_at() for
placing objects on a heightfield. As far as I can tell, there isn't
anything comparable in MegaPOV.

use trace()
its not as easy as hf_at but you can use it for more then just
height_fields, like diminishing lens flares...

I forget the syntax but look under superpatch docs..

I think I'll answer my own question. I was digging through the sample
scenes and came across one named hf_height_at.pov (or something
similar) and lo and behold, hf_height_at is part of megapov, although
it isn't covered in the documentation. Oh joy. I can now populate
my heightfields.

We read your message and not 10 minutes later we added that patch to
MegaPov! If I'm not mistaken, we have merged TMPOV completely now.?
It took more time to create the demo scene than adding the patch. We
don't think it's easier to use than trace() but it's so little code
that we could not leave it out!

I thank you for such a fast response. I've been using POV since
DKB 1.x and while the new functions are fairly overwhelming, I'm able
to do things I was only able to dream about before (or struggle to
do). I'll have to sit down and learn trace() and all of the other
new toys. Thanks for the presents.
