Has development of giram stopped?
I only ask 'cos the last version I found was 0.3.4 and that, although
flagged as supporting textures and pigments, didn't.
The website is inordinately slow (2k/sec) when accessed from work machines
(2Meg pipe) and the last comments were dated as July (IIRC).
If it has stopped, it's a shame ... if it hasn't ,where's it gone to?

I think it was Ken who once commented that one of the great things about
Moray is that modellers supporting POV-Ray come and go, and they seem to
invariably die, their development stops and they are forgotten, but Moray
has persisted the dent of time for many many years and is still developed
actively and probably (and hopefully) will be for long.

That would be a pity, because it looked very promising. I also noticed
the stop in the developement, but maybe it's not dead. At least it's
released under the GPL, so if there is enough interest in the povray
community, developement could continue.

This is true, but unfortunately Moray is only for Windows. I would like
to see a hamapatch clone for Linux, if you know any, please tell me.
I've been searching for such a Linux tool for years now.

The search continues.....
BTW Florian, did you ever get the colour and texture dialogues to work in
giram? If so, where was the code broken?

Works fine for me, no code change needed. What are your problems?

These are not exactly "hamapatch clone for Linux"
but maybe something like this?
http://www.equinox3d.com/
or this?
http://www.wings3d.com/
Hope this helps

Hmmm. Looks like equinox won't export to Pov so that's a non-starter, but
wings3d looks interesting. I'll try that.
Thanx for the link

You are right. Equinox doesn't export to povray, but it exports to .obj.
And Wings3D can read .obj files, so you can make your model in
Equinox, export it to .obj file, open it in Wings3D and export it to pov
and you are done.
I remember the firsts Hamapatch versions that didn't export to moray.
I had to do the things in Hamapatch, then export them to sPatch and
then to Moray.
(I mean, if you are searching for a good modeller, don't let that things
like "it doesn't export to pov" limit your possibilities, specially if there
is a workaround ;-)

Nothing; and good luck.

Basically, I don't get any colour or texture dialogues.
According to the docs there should be a colours sub-menu in the pop-up
dialogue. All I get is options for rotate, translate, scale and camera_view.
Weird, especially since I was very careful to ensure that I had all the
latest library versions.
If you can wait till Tuesday, I'll send a couple of screenshots to show
exactly what I'm talking about.
