Hey, a really big belated thanks for that link FLS! Apollo looks great!
Just what I'm looking for if only I knew where to put 'all' those files
without damaging Poser...

Where possible, I save them in an exterior runtime library, which I can then
connect to Poser.

Sorry Steve, this was the short answer (laziness, you know :-) )
This is the long answer:
You know that most if not all figures and props (Poser or Daz) are all
structured identically in a folder called: Runtime. What I do, is create a
folder somewhere on my HD, that I call 'My Runtime Libraries' (any name will
do). Each time I download a new figure or prop, I extract it to that folder,
using the folder names that come with the zipped files.
In Poser, you go to the utmost top of the Figures Library (normally at the
right of your screen) by double clicking on the arrow that brings you upward
in the Library Tree, until you see the folder name 'Poser 7' with a red ball
beside it. Now, just above that, click on the black triangle opening a
pulldown menu, and click on 'Add New Runtime'. Choose your newly created
folder and it will appear in the Poser's Library column. The beautiful thing
is that if the figure (or prop) has Poses, Materials, Expressions, etc,
those will appear automatically when opened for the figure.
In much the same way, you can save your own figures or props to an external
library.

Thomas, Thank You! Heh, I didn't even know Poser was pulling the figures
from a 'runtime' folder! But that certainly makes sense now.

You are most welcome, Steve :-)
It took me a while to understand their structure too. At first, it did not
make sense at all to me, and seemed unduly complicated (there is some
grumbling about this in the Poser Forum I noticed). I get the impression
that Poser is in the middle of a gradual core rewrite and it might well be
that the whole construction is going to change in future upgrades...

Oh! I did not know that. Now I've got to un/reinstall Poser because I've put
everything into the Poser Runtime. My libraries are a mess and I can't find
anything. Thanks for the tip.

One of the things I dislike about Poser is the way it does not remember which
directory to use.

It is very convenient indeed. Remember, when you download something for
Poser, always to extract with 'Use folder names' checked (as it is called in
WinZip).
Also, for your convenience, make as many folders or sub-folders as you need.
For instance, my own folder has a sub-forder for 'Animals', another for
'Miki 2', one for 'Apollo Maximus', etc. and I made some sub-folders for 'My
figures', 'My props', intended for things I create and want to access
rapidly later on.

My last spate of downloading has left me really disorganised and it won't get
better if I put it off. I hate housecleaning. At least you've given me a new toy
to play with :-)
