When I was in Chile, I saw a console that had cartridge slots for games
from the original NES, the SNES, and the N64, all on the same machine!

Yeah, these freaks are well-known in the black markets in Brazil. There
was a long-standing Polystation here, but I guess this Runstation will
finally take over. ^_^
Don't be fooled by the name or looks: inside there's probably just a NES
with about 200 games builtin, the most cracked and pirated game console
of all time. :P

whoa, that's an advancement for sure. I thought all pirates were
obsessed with NES alone... :)

One thing I don't understand:
I assume that these shady companies are creating these ripoff copies
of game consoles because they can make and sell them cheaper than the
genuine articles. (Why would anyone buy a ripoff console if it was more
expensive than a genuine one?)
If that's so, then I find it basically impossible for the ripoff console
to run the games of the genuine console it's imitating. Not while being
cheaper at the same time.
So that would mean that the ripoff console has its own library of games,
specific to that console. And how many companies are making games for these
ripoff consoles? The game library must be rather small, and probably composed
of really low-quality crappy games.
So why would anyone buy a ripoff console, which they might be able to use
to play perhaps 5 games, all of them non-mainstream and of crappy quality?
Ok, there might be a few people who actually get fooled by the looks,
design and the similar name, and buy it believing it's the genuine article.

The most obnoxious thing about the version which imitates the Playstation
in its design is the lid: It's made to look like a CD drive, like in the
Playstation, but when you open it, there's just a cartdridge slot inside.
The lid basically is pure fraud, making it look like a CD-based console.

Poor, uneducated people are insane. They see on TV they should use a
Nike, so they'll buy even some cheap tennis clone made of cardboard if
it has a Nike stamp on it. They will buy a console looking like the hot
new thing: it plays games and *is* identical to the new stuff. The
evil effects of consumerism are particularly evil on poor people.
Funny thing is: this brand stuff doesn't apply to food. For instance,
they will ditch a good quality brand of cookies in favor of cheaper,
floor-and-water cookies. Yeah, why have a delicious, enjoyable time
with cookies when you can simply fill your stomach with 3 packs of
tasteless floor-and-water for the same price?

Ok, I take that back. The most obnoxious thing is not the lid, but the
description at the back of the box:

It's basically a word-for-word copy of the back of the Playstation box,
even though the Polystation is just a NES clone, and naturally doesn't
support anything the box claims it supports.
