It was like a scene from a badly scripted sitcom. Except... real. o_O

Uh.......

Yes. British Telecom used to pay her to go round people's houses and
wire up their telephones. Obviously, this involves drilling holes
through walls and climbing ladders to each overhead cables. Not to
mention the climbing through trees and driving to deserted farmer's
fields in a large Ford Transit...

So that you can see the cord you just cut in half?

A gas powered vacuum would be awesome.

Well, I'm sure the instruction manual you were delivered with didn't
cover it. ;-)
(As I've said before, babies don't come with instruction
manuals.....parents just do the best they can with what they've got....)

This is my dad's mower. Seriously. "Wolf" is a friend of mine describing
it, and every word is true.

Marginally more understandable I suspect than if you had talked about

Petrol lawn mowers, as well as not needing a cable, are usually much more
powerful, so you can charge through quite long wet grass that likely would
block up an electric one.
> I have also never seen anybody actually cut their power cord while mowing

A friend of ours borrowed our electric hedge cutter, she cut through cord.
Then she borrowed it again, and we joked to her about not cutting through it
again. Of course she cut through it *again*. She can go and buy her own
one now.
> When was the last time you ran your vacuum cleaner over the power cord?
Erm, the whole time actually, but the consequences aren't nearly as bad,
plus it's a pain in the ass having to rearrange the cable and keep
plug/unplugging it the whole time as you move around the house, getting it
tangled around chairs/tables etc.

Oh, mine doesn't have the spinny brush bit on the main unit, only at the end
of the pipe.

Nah, you just store the exhaust on-board in a canister, then dispose of it
once it's full. Or have the engine part outside, and a long pipe :-)

Ok. So what on Earth was the meaning of that experiment? :O
