I must be the only one out there that desires the address bar in the 
task bar. I've had this in my task bar since FREAKING WINDOWS 98 ffs! 
Now I install XP SP3 Which the MS update shoveler presented to me, and 
now (Guess what!?) MY F***ING ADDRESS BAR IS GONE. I can't get it to 
show up. A quick google indicates that it was removed because of (wait 
for it) a court settlement. FU COURTS! Thanks to you I'll be returning 
to SP2, never to install SP3 again. I suppose I could upgrade to Windows 
Vista on my work machine, which would give me my (precious) address bar 
back.

This is the single most convenient feature in the world for me. It 
drives me nuts when there isn't one. I miss my address bar..

Back to SP2 for me.

Huh? Why?

I did an upgrade from XP to Vista on my home system ... Went flawlessly 
except for the lack of drivers for an ancient scanner, and some software 
which had drivers, but the companies rather than provide an update to an 
existing version with Vista compatible drivers forced you into buying a 
new version of their broken software ...

Yes, in theory - you can do this.

In practice - to say it with Dante - abandon every hope, ye who enter here.

I'd suggest you try to get hold of a test-version, try to install it, look 
at it, and then, in all probability, trash it.

The one in the attached image. Type in a folder name, you open the 
folder, type in a web address, you get a browser window with that 
address (in your default browser) type the name of an executable, run 
that program. I like it. It also has a nice history feature, so I can 
usually bring up what I ran or opened previously with a few keystrokes. :)

I assume he means the one you get if you right-click in the task bar, 
and pick "tool bars->address". :-)

This was kind of like what I was saying elsewhere about why MS doesn't 
include their own versions of free GNU software with the OS. Because it 
gets you sued.

  Hmm, the GPL license doesn't prohibit distributing GPL software bundled
with a commercial system. (It only requires you to provide the source code
of the GPL software if requested.)

Why would that stop you from suing Microsoft about it?

Heck, they made their own implementation of the desktop and got sued 
over that.

  On what grounds? Lawsuits don't even get through if they don't make
