I was burning a DVD, and it wouldn't go above 1x even tho it's a 4x
drive. I thought maybe I'd screwed something up and it had wound up as a
PIO interface rather than DMA or something. So I did the usual Windows
fix for it, which is uninstall and reinstall the driver.

I *expected* to either be told "Can't do that - driver in use" or to
have it uninstall when I closed the burner or when I next rebooted. But
it yanked the driver out from under immediately and BSOD'ed a "not
implemented interrupt" BSOD.

Amusing, to say the least.

One might argue that a BSOD is a way of saying that to you. ;-)

Was talking to a friend of mine the other day who was installing a fan in
her bathroom. She learned the hard way that standing underneath it while
installing it was a bad idea (it slipped and hit her in the head).

The fan was not damaged in the fall.

But if you can hold the fan in place with your head, it is as good as
another pair of hands. :-)

Only as long as it doesn't require manipulation. ;-)

No! It is something I've often done. By taking the weight on your head
and using your neck to rotate it. You can manipulate an object quite
easily. It is sometimes advisable to wear a hard hat. :)
I hate working with my hands above my head, it is so tiring.

I remember doing something like this with sheetrock as we were putting a
new ceiling up in our living room. But the amount of shifting required
while we secured it was quite minimal. I'd not be good with something
smaller on my head, I think.... :-)

It was ceiling tiles (industrial) I was thinking about. I am used to
working on my own so adapting comes quite easily. One foot on the
table to stop it rocking, left pinkie on the pcb to steady my hand,
soldering iron in left hand and right hand to hold solder and solder
sucker. Bottom lip extended to blow the flux away from my face. I look
a picture :)
All in the past now but memories live forever (sometimes :)
