The POV-Ray Include Files Page has been updated, with a new Windows
version (with GUI) of Warp's Mesh Compressor. Also, the new Tile
Generator macro file has been released, which lets you render seamlessly
tilable images using pigments, textures, objects, and blobs (thanks to
Roberto Selva for the original suggestion of tiling objects):
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lakes/1434
You can control the tile size and aspect ratio, and tile direction
(horizontal and/or vertical). The macro file also lets you create
infinite random pigments, textures, wood textures, or lighting using a
single seed value, which you can use to create tiles, or in any POV-Ray
scene (eg. random_wood_texture (876132)). You can even create entirely
random tiles (using a combination of all the various features of the
file) with just a single number.
Yours,
Chris.

NOTE:
The Winmeshcomp 1.2a in Chris' page is an uncomplete beta version (I
forgot to mention that to him when I sent it). I have already sent him the
complete version 1.2b which probably will appear very soon on his page.

I thank you, Chris and Warp, for developing these great highly
useful utilities and providing a place for us to obtain them.

And thank you, Alan, for taking the effort to reply (and in such kindly
terms, to boot!). As some might say, A Job Well Done Is Its Own Reward
- nevertheless, a little external validation can go a long way! While
I'm at it I really should say thank you for all your efforts as
representative of the POV-Team, and the various communications,
Compuserve uploads, etc. you've handled over the last few years -
consistently much appreciated!

You're very welcome, Chris. Before his 'retirement' from the POV-Team, Dan
Farmer had uploaded an early effort of your lens flare macro to the POVRAY
Forum on CompuServe. He wanted us to take a look at how it was written as
well as what your macro include file actually did for an image.
