at least the site "works" in w3m and links ... dunno 'bout lynx, though ...

How can you fix something that is not broken?
  It's not www.povray.org which is broken - it's Netscape 4.x which is.
Complain to Netscape.

(How was the good old engineer saying: "If it ain't broken, don't fix it"
or something like that. :P )

It is. Just ask validator.w3.org.
Some improper nesting, missing required atteributes and attributes were
they aren't allowed.

I don't think this is the cause of Netscapes problem though.

Not a big surprise when one has to support every browser out there. If the
choice is between either using compliant HTML on a site or have it work with
all browsers such that it is readable and usable, the choice is obvious. A
site publisher has no business forcing its users to use certain browsers and
it should always give the best possible result for all users and their
browsers...

This is especially the case with the really stupid placement of the form
tags, but Netscape 4.x insists on adding blank lines if it is elsewhere,
which would result in a not acceptable rendering of the page under Netscape
4.x on all platforms. All the table errors that get reported after that are
simply caused by the form tag position required for Netscape :-(

In summary, the current page HTML is the most compliant possible if one
wants to support more than just IE 5.2 on Mac OS X (which is more compliant
to XHTML/CSS2 support than IE 6 on Windows, not even to mention Gecko based
browsers).

I suppose nearly everybody here would object if IE 5.2 on Mac OS X would be
required to view the site just for the sake of having a site that is fully
XHTML and CSS 2 compliant ;-)

15. How can I get into second step of registration if I already started
registration? My mail server was broken yesterday and I recived code just now
but (even with Search) I can't get any page where "Step 2" appear except page
with step 1. Should I start another registration and put there false
informations only to get step 2 page ? Or should I start full real
registration and leave previous data from first one in database ?

16. When I put "step 2" into search field and press search button then
resulting page contains ten links and links to further results as "11-20" and
"21-26". But links to further results not work. They return "Your search did
not match any documents."

Have you considered multicolumn display ? Current implementation is also more
scroll- than user-friendly. Number of rows in last query is available in mySQL
IIRC.

Hi,

I like the page design very much, but there's a bug when viewed at 800x600
which is my usual screen resolution. The alignment of the "blue bar" to the
right is wrong.. I use Explorer 5.00.3314.2101 for Windows98 SE.

Regards,
Hugo

If you did not complete the registration the server did not store any of the
information you entered*. So you have to enter the information again.

As it requires you to provide your email address as unique information, you
cannot accidentally register twice with the same email address.
Consequently, there can never be duplicate data in the database for the same
email address. This also has the benefit that there will never be lost
data in the database if you try over and over again with the same email
address no matter were registration "Breaks" for you.

The search engine cannot index the "Step 2" site, so those most be from
elsewhere on the site, for example the documentation. I would check out
myself now, but the server seems to be too busy right now. I suppose that
the links didn't work was the same reason for you...

    Thorsten

* The trick is that the "Step 2" page contains all the data you entered in
hidden form input fields. So if you close the browser window without
completing the registration, the data you entered is lost.
