I used Amigas back in the day. At one time they were the machine of
choice for graphics (remember the Video Toaster?) I gave up on the
Amiga when Commodore did. Actually, I discovered POV with my Amiga.
Sadly, none of the images I did back then have survived. Maybe that's
a good thing though, cause they were pretty cheesy.

That site has the Amiga port of povray3.1, which is actually current.
I use that version and it anything that renders on WIndows 3.2 also
renders on that amiga version, so it is not out of date. When the pov
team release Povray 3.5, *then* it will be outdated.

Or did you mean something else when you said "outdated".

Yes, I did actually (I'm so fatalistic, sorry). I was implying that it
appeared to be going back to January 9th, 1999, being a year and a half or
so ago, and thought there was a chance the Amiga platform was being left
behind. That date was from the POV-Ray Amiga PPC in testing! link which I
considered must be the latest thing going on. That might put the source
code back to around "version 3.1a" wouldn't it?
Anyway, the source code at the download link states: Not yet available.
Expected by 10-Nov-1998
I realize not everything on the web stays current as of today but it had me
thinking it was trailing off toward a forgotten platform. Curses, this
fast-paced internet mentality, if I was being wrong :-)

That "not yet available" is only for the PPC version. The
regular Amiga version (100% compatiable with the latest Official
Windows version) has been available for at least a year and a half.

No, the Amiga is fading. There are a tenacious group of
Amigans who belive the platform will come back but I don't agree
with them. I only continue to use my amiga because I've got it
tuned so nicely. If I moved to Windows or lunix, I'de lose all
my apps that have become so comfortable (MakeCD, Thor,
Arexx, etc.).
And I don't have room here to run two computers (ie -
buy a windows/linux machine and network it with the 'miggy.
That would be cool though).
Still: I use the Windows version of Official Povray at
work and the interface and the built in text editor are
rather slick!

Okay, that clears that up I guess. I see a file date of July 1999 for the
version 3.1g of WinPOV I have here, not a year and a half exactly but I get
what you mean. Amazes me it's been a year and two months since then.
