I don't think blobs will get you there, as they are fundamentally
unsuited to get truly flat surfaces.

If you do want to follow the blob approach, an isosurface with blob-like
functions might be worth trying.

Thanks, but wow - I have never done such before. I have no idea, how to
do such. Can you give me an example? From that, I could learn for this
particular purpose. I am not easy with blobs, and I never touched iso
surfaces yet.

I'd have given you names in the response, if my old memory were up to
it. :-)

A google search for "povray blob model" turned up povray's own, links
page at:

http://www.povray.org/resources/links/3D_Programs/POV-Ray_Modelling_Programs/

on which some blob modeling tools are listed. Some of those links dead
end - though further searches on the tool names found downloads.

Code seems pretty old - mid to late 90s vintage - though probably still
functions. I'd go with Christoph's Blender recommendation for Mr's
Blender Blobs if you want any support.

Saw the image you posted in another response which I suppose came from
some other technique/modeler you don't want to use? In any case, I
second Christoph's response that blobs are not the way to go if you want
flat surfaces.

What means "IIRC"? Online I found "International Intelligent Robots
Contest", but I doubt very much that this is what you meant. :-)

If it comes to iso surfaces, I seriously need help. Real help. I never
touched iso surfaces yet, and being in need now for such a shape and
having no knowledge yet, I wonder if you allow me to ask, if someone
could create a sample for me that shows the shape I want. From that
sample, I can learn and should be able to use such iso surfaces in the
future on my own. I hope, I am not asking for too much, I feel shy about
asking for help (could be seen as an attempt to exploit others).

Trying to google for "Mr Blender Blobs", but the Jamaican version of
Google (google.com.jm) does not list anything when searching. Could be,
that such results are not permitted to Google by Jamaican authorities
for some reason or by accident. Since the Google search engine,
following a demand by China, has created local (national) versions of
its service that can be influenced by local authorities, it seems,
search results differ from country to country. Bad in my eyes.

With Yahoo, i find only videos and this:
http://www.moddb.com/games/platformer/downloads/mr-blob-the-vertical-slice
(a game with mr. Blob for the Blender game engine)...

Can you give me a URL for "Mr Blender Blobs"? Thanks.

I hope, the POV-Ray developer team soon adds blob support for more
shapes, like box, cone, superellipsoid, and all those.

The Blender name for Blobs is metaballs if that helps.

Mr is his initials not short for Mister. Confusing yes or no?
