We are currently writing a scientific paper on treatment of traumatic brain
injury and we are hoping to include a schematic illustration of the brain and
invasive monitoring techniques in intensive care. Unfortunately, our limited
skills and the limited possibilities of programs like adobe illustrator only
allow for a poor quality illustration. We have fairly specific ideas of what to
include in the figure and could give detailed advice on the anatomy. Your
contribution would of course be acknowledged, but we cannot pay for help.
Is anybody interested in contributing?

This is a call to the 3D artists of our community, as I understand.
What are the frame conditions of this co-operation? And what is the salary?
Also, do you want to be able to highly certain regions of this 3D brain
model while other parts are temporarily transparent? Please let us know.

It may be rather difficult to find someone just doing it for
you. You could also try to do it yourself, and will certainly
get help here when encountering any problems.
Also, do you already have any data available such as
3D models of the brain or monitoring devices?

I would hope that there may be some POV-Ray users here who would consider doing
it for the challenge/interest/achievement. I wouldn't class finding someone as
"rather difficult", though that doesn't mean of course that they will.
Is there someone here who would volunteer their time?

I have an idea (for someone here who is good at working with df3 files, which
I'm not): Somewhere on-line is the very detailed 'digitized human cadaver'
model, made from CAT-scans (or similar MRI scans) of a thinly-sliced, frozen
human. There's much that I don't know about that project, but *if* it is freely
accessible, and *if* the scans can be converted into df3 files, and *if* the
brain scans come as a separate group--then an accurate brain model could be
built in POV-Ray, without having to do the modeling itself. Does anyone have
more information on this?

It's called the "Visible Human" project. (I need to re-familiarize myself with
the details, to see if any of my suggestions are worthwhile.)

I was investigating this:

for other purposes (clouds) but got diverted onto something else and never
made much progress, so all I can offer is that above link .... perhaps
