I like it. Thank you !

- But why are only 2 images shown for 2003 ?

And is it no longer possible to reference a single
post within a thread ?

If you are referring to the image digest,
then at the bottom of this page;

http://news.povray.org/groups/

- you'll find this link:

http://news.povray.org/digest/images

I don't understand.

There is, but you cannot currently get the link anywhere in the web
interface. As always, just "http://news.povray.org/<message-id>" will do.
For example, your post can be reached via

<http://news.povray.org/%3C403b8a24%241%40news.povray.org%3E>

I suspected that the image digest page would show the last 100
images posted to the povray.binaries.images group. So I browsed
down the list and saw that it went all back to 2002. That's a
long time back for that group, so I thought maybe some images
are missing. Then I found that only 2 images are shown for 2003.

Now I see that there are MANY more images missing, even for
2004, so I guess that this is only a startup problem (?)

Ok, I understand.

And I'm relieved to see that this kind of referencing still works:

Ah, well, I kind of gave the answer to this question in my first post in
this thread. It simply so happens that the last 100 images added are shown.
As there haven't been 100 new images posted since the web view was created,
it shows images from some group that was decoded last.

Maybe you are confusing what the image digest does? It will show the 100
images last posted, not show all images ever posted.

I just did a (rough) count of the images posted to
povray.binaries.images so far _this_ year alone.

My result is about 140 images posted so far in 2004.

Exactly. For simplicity it shows images in order they were added to the web
news view (which has to be done per group, not per date, for old messages).
As there are only slightly more than three images posted per day on average,
it takes about one month until there are 100 new images in the digest.
