Push-Ball v1.0 is out now.
I've improved the graphical design, and commented all the files the best I
could.
Hope you'll enjoy it!
If anybody are interested in making their own bots, I can arrange a match
where they can compete against each other... How to make your own bot is
explained (to some extent) in the Push-Ball package.
You can download the package from povray.binaries.scene-files
You can see an example image in povray.binaries.images
You can see a sample animation in povray.binaries.animations
Greetings,
Rune

I skipped over this message the first time thru, but just now stumbled
across the Push-Ball animation in p.b.a. Very interesting concept... I'm
surprised the POV community hasn't jumped all over this. I wasn't sure what
the balls were doing at first (didn't see the thrust source). I thought
maybe it was magnetic or something. I look forward to reading thru the code
and designing a bot.

Maybe because most people here prefer making nice images instead of
programming bots? :-)

You might not get a lot of competition, as I'm not under the impression that
others are planning to programs bots too. But there still is the sample bots
I made myself...
Actually, I must admit that I have kind of dropped the PushBall project. The
game just seemed to limited, and it seemed too complicated to code useful
bots. As you mentioned, it wasn't very successful in these groups either.
After having dropped PushBall, I began creating another game called Missile
Bots, but this also had some problems. While the game itself is probably
fine, the problem is that the resulting animations would get too big. A
single Missile Bot match would take up 3 to 5 megabytes, and I'm not sure if
people are interested enough in such a game to download *that* big
animations. After all, it's not anything amazing like IRTC winner
animations. It's just a way to presents a computer-game match.
So I'm sorry if I have disappointed you, but it seems like these POV-Ray
games maybe aren't such a good idea after all.
Greetings,
Rune
