ComputerArts had the same thing, a brit rag on the shelves of most Barnes &
Nobles.

I've been badly burned by CA in the past however, with their "free software".
With the "Free" Organica software (not a demo), it was called a "POW
Distribution", which turned out to be a save and export-disabled demo.

I'm fearful that CA's "SE" edition of Truespace is going to be a save and
export-disabled demo. I bought the mag but afraid to take the time to install
it.

Does anyone have direct experience as to what TS3SE literally is?

Just installed it on my work PC (home PC ain't up to it).

It is, as far as I can tell from a quick poke-around, a full version. No
expiry, no save-disable. The SE seems to refer to some additional plugins,
etc, that presumably weren't included in the original TS3.

Export options for objects are: cob, 3d studio ascii, .dxf (autocad), .can
(object animation) and .rsd.(playstation?!)

Scenes can only be exported as caligari (scn), or vrml (wrl)

I have had it before (and given it away - a good sign!), from what i found,
its a full working copy of TS3, plus or Minus some extra goodies - like
fewer stock textures, couple of extra plugs, fewer other plugs.....

the SE refers to the parts that are not strictly the TS3 exe and its
required odds and ends, in essence its a rip..

Not quite (in that I've also been too timid to potentially waste my time)
but someone who HAS installed it says it works fine - but he import (and
especially export) filters are a subset of the full TS3's list (for example,
TS3SE doesn't EXPORT wavefront .OBJ files. Or so I'm told).

Hope that helps,

Cliff Bowman
