May 17 is one month from now.
There is nothing else to it.

Nothing else really works for me... I wouldn't mind seeing this in a
button or on the splash screen (with a scene).

Well, I could begin to tell you the rules of the competition, so you might
understand that it is limited how complicated the logos can be, and I could
inform you that many of the logos were actually made in POV-Ray, but I won't
do all that, because I think Bill DeWitt's comment says it all:

I don't see your entry...

The purpose of a logo is *not* to demonstrate the software's abilities.
There are demos scenes for that.
IMO, a logo must *express* what the software *is*, not what it
produces. In our case, I think the logo must meet 2 requirements :
 - express the nature of Pov (a raytracing engine)
 - specifically referring to Pov (but how ?), so the logo is'nt
   suitable to ANY raytracer.

Meeting these criterias (plus others) is far from easy, but some
logos does. Aside, showing what pov can do within a 64*64 canvas
must be close from impossible.

And, as others said :
I didn't see your entry...

Fabien.

Now now guys, I'm sure Ryan was just expressing his opinion as was I too. I
never could think of a POV logo so I didn't even try. I was really not saying
they were bad choices, I must emphasize that. But the really good ones were
just simply not fitting my idea of a POV logo/icon.
I still like #6 best because of the implied text and 3D but some others would
probably do for that as well. Okay so everyone using POV-Ray was invited to
vote, good judges or not :-)

Looking at the votes, it seems that they get very scattered among many of
the logos. There's doesn't seem to be any clear winner.
I propose that if the winner of the voting wins only by a few points
compared to the second and third, a second voting is performed for the
most voted ones.

  Only a suggestion...

A complementary suggestion : let's not decide for a logo just
after the vote, but start a discussion about the ones that were
clearly deemed "best". None of the logos seems mature enough,
and they need some more improvement (individual or collective
improvement).

Fabien.
