Does anyone know if there are any other news groups or mailing lists
dedicated to POV-Ray but in another language ? I am aware of the French
news groups but was wondering if there might be others for say German,
Spanish, Sumarian, or... ?

Maybe it is time to start a Dutch POV-ray newsgroup, discussing raytracing
wind mills, pole vaulting over the water (fjerneljeppen) and Edammer cheese
;-))

I was just about to suggest that!

Of course with specialized sub-groups about "how-to-render-wet-clay",
"the-different-shades-of-grey", "using-heightfields-in-Dutch-landscape"
and "how-to-place-blobs-to-make-a-hunebed" (but then in Dutch of
course).

Seriously though: I believe I would like such a thing.

What has become of the the Dutch mountains? :-)
Blijkbaar is onze taal nog de meest 'vreemde in de bijt'.

Damn, that language is weird. I can't even begin to guess what anything
means. :/

Don't 8)

I also think it could be nice to have a POV-group in Esperanto (and
forget all about Babel).

One of the advantages of having a non-English speaking group like the
French-speaking one is that it allows national pov users who don't understand
English or, more frequently, who don't dare to write it, to have access to pov
ressources. It is amazing how many requests we have in the French group for
translations of the POV documentation, or for help on topics covered in the doc
but hard to grasp for a non-English speaking user. Also the Belgian, Canadian of
French people in the official povray NG often report information back to the
French NG (and I include Ken Tyler who seems on the verge to moving to France
soon ;). I think this is very useful for these users.
Por ejemplo, creo que a muchos hispanoparlantes les gustarian tener un grupo

NG oficial, y quizas participarian en un grupo hispanico.

I speak, read, write Dutch (read about 75% Spanish, 95% French and German)
and generally use English for POV.
My suggestion would be not to start foreign language groups:
non-participants would have the funny feeling they are missing something,
while the foreigners would also have to read all the English groups.

I don't know. I think that creating a new ng for foreign languges it's a good
idea. Sometimes you don't know how to ask the right question in a foreign
language. And sometimes you don't know the language at all (Dutch for a start).

Don't agree here. If you don't know english you'll have the ugly feeling that
you're missing everything.

By the way Tony, no sos el unico. Pero debes admitir que a veces es un poco
dificil explicar algunas cosas.

Saludos, Take care, auf viedersehen (rusty german <g>), etc, etc, etc

Activo si, pero creo que hay otros hispanoparlantes que leen este grupo de
noticias.
Soy profesor universitario y desde que empiezan las clases hasta que terminan
no
tengo tiempo para nada.

I 'd like to have the time to be more active in this newsgroup.

Alberto.
