I found the PC-Mania magazine online at:
http://www.canaldinamic.es/cgi-bin/p/dos.cgi?home
in particular is:
http://www.canaldinamic.es/PCMANIA/PC080/RE/pc080rerende0000.html
and also there was the Genesis Toolkit in there somewhere too.
Hey, online magazines with the Persistence of Vision Ray-Tracer in them
might be something to look into as a source of info after all, I just never
thought any publications had been writing anything much.
Thanks for letting me know guys.

Hey! Me too, and still got that floppy. I keep it in a velvet-lined box.

Of course it probably doesn't help when the POV legal doc specifically
bans a whole publishing house from distributing POV.

You're probably right, Scott, but I don't think it's asking too much
to distribute the POV-Ray package intact, including docs and scene
files. Obviously, Future Publishing didn't help Chris Young and the
POV-Team with the support questions from the poor folks who couldn't
figure out how to use POV-Ray without the documentation.

Oh, I totally agree, and I don't know all the details (only what's in
the POV legal doc), but, as Future are one of the biggest publishing houses
over here and produce some of the best selling computer magazines in the UK,
you've got to ask yourself just how many potential POV users in the UK have
never even heard of it because of this. I guess we'll never know the answer
to that one.

Actually I'd say that Future were probably very helpful with those that
got in touch with them directly - they're pretty good on that front, from
what I can tell (no first hand experience, though). But, I can imagine all
the extra work it would have generated for Chris.

Also - I first came across POV on the cover of PC-Format and I don't
recall having any problems using it - from memory, no it wasn't a complete
distribution, but there was enough there to get going and, IIRC, they ran a
POV workshop/tutorial thing around the same time.
