I just went through the images on Thomas van der Veen's page (Legos). I
am shocked to see that many pieces have been added that I do not
remeber. It has been a nice stroll down memory lane to see the pieces on
display. I wish I hadn't given my Legos to my nephew. He proceeded to
tear my masterpieces apart. I had a 12" robot that looked very cool. I
also had a space train of my own design. If only I could turn back
time...

Only thing I remember about lego is that there were two sizes, big and
choke, and they came in different colors.

Lego is meant to take apart the things you created, so you can make new things,
isn't it?
BTW is it true that in some places Lego is sold as assembled models?

TonyB if you are old then I am ancient and I don't like the ramifications
of that at all. When I was a very young child Lego's had just been invented.
Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, and the Erector Set were the rage back then and
Lego's were of only passing interest to the hard core construction oriented
child. There were absolutly no "theme" oriented Lego packages available at
all. Not even wheels had been marketed in the dark older days of Lego
construction. Can you imagine that ? The things the people of my generation
had to suffer when I was growing up couldn't possibly be imagined by the youth
of today.
Did I mention the 10 miles of snow we walked through to get to school here
in Southern California :)

At least you had money to by Logos. Why, I was so poor that I had
to carve them from my old wooden blocks.

Did I say I owned Lego's ?
Actualy when I was through mowing all of my neigbors lawns sometimes the
kids would let me watch them play with their Lego sets.

This is strange. Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, Erector Set? Were those
the only toys available back then? I had those too : ) Actually, I
also had a remote control tank (well, cabled remote) one Christmas
that was pretty unforgettable. Think you're right about those Legos
though, like miniaturized baby blocks I believe I used to think of
them. Almost a backward step in playtime. My Tinker Toys had
propellers and wheels and plenty of imagination to go with (thank God
for that!).

Well we had Play-Dough (sp) but at that time there were none of the fancy
extrusion machines to go with it. There were also marbles and plastic toys
were just coming into their own so we had plastic army men and tanks, Pickup
Sticks, Super balls, and many board games to play with. Tidly Winks were also
big fun at that time as was the Etch O Sketch and Crayola crayons and coloring
books. All of those toys were fun but my prized posession was my bicycle. That
gave me more entertainment value than any other "toy" I ever owned and I can't
imagine how boring my childhood would have been without it.
