Most (professional) Mac modellers can read 3dmf (the Apple QuickDraw 3D file
format), QuickTime 3.0 and 4.0 can display such files. While I don't know
of any program that can convert 3dmf directly to POV-Ray, there are some out
there that can convert 3dmf to DXF. Try the various links on
http://mac.povray.org/model_tools.html and I am sure you will fund such an
utility (perhaps even for Windows). You may want to try the Apple QuickTime
site (www.apple.com/quicktime/) as well, as QuickDraw 3D is now part of
QuickTime. They have some utilities (a bit hidden) on that site.

Thank you Thorsten. I had a feeling that it was a Mac format but you
have confirmed it for me. I found one program that will read them that
will also output .dxf if I understand the web page description properly.
You might add this one to mac.povray.org since it also has 2 Mac platform
versions available plus a Win 95 version. The program is called Design
Workshop Lt. which is free and there are more professional versions available
that require registration fees. Also check out their fantastic free models
gallery while there. They have the largest 3D collection of historical
buildings that I have seen anywhere.

I have read those files -from http://www.greatbuildings.com in Corel Dream
3D (Win95). -the best task CD3D performs btw-, and saved into dxf. I have
not downloaded Design workshop though. Softcad Lite(Win 95/NT) -free also-
makes a pretty decent work manipulating these dxf files, even though is a
little outdated. I am running them in Win98, without any problem.

Or directly from Apple at http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/quicktime/
qtdevdocs/RM/qd3dframe.htm :-)

Thanks, I will check their site and write a bit about it to add to
mac.povray.org.
BTW, a 3dmf import is a wish of many Mac POV-Ray users - if I just had the
time to write it...
