I just updated my raytracing links. It has renderers and modellers and
utils for windows, OS2, unix. It is one of the largest collections of
raytracing programs on the net.

 Hi Chuck,

Not wanting to sound too negagtive but there are many dead links in your
collection. Most or all of the utilities that used to be hosted on the Pov
ftp web site have long since gone away and are no longer availvable there.
This alone out dates a dozen or more of your links. Besides the broken
links many of your links are to some really outdated materials. If you
would really like to update your collection feel free to visit my site or
drop by the pov news server in the povray.announce.frequently-asked-questions
section and take a look at my links collection. I think you will find many
there worth adding to your collection and you may find some valid links to
replace the broken links in you own collection.

The dead links problem is extremely annoying in the internet.
If you have a page with 100 links, in a couple of weeks about 10 of them
will stop working. In 6 months about 50 of them will stop working. In a
couple of years at least 80 of them will not work.
The most annoying one is the first one: You can't have lots of links more
than a couple of days with all of them working.

I have found that college students are very irresponsible about their web
site when they have them hosted at the university they are attending. Once
out of college they simply let them dissapear without letting anyone know
about it. The only pages that seem to survive are those hosted by the full
time professors and teaches and even they change content enough that you
cannot rely on them.
In defense of my own links collection I am trying with sincerity to keep
it current and up to date but I have no control over people changing their
sites and failing to notify me that they have done so. Fortunatly I have
so many links it will take you a while to find the 2 -5 % that are broken
at any one time so it is still a valuable resource for everyone.

Solution to link problems. Instead of having a links page, just
hav a link to Uncle Ken's Links Page. Problem solved.

Ken, can you run CGI scripts on your site? If so, look at Links 2.0.

It has everything in it, and is quite cool. It even has support for link
verification auto-magically, and checking for duplicates. It's the one that
I currently use.
