- In fact, we have a very good reason to do a POV-festival : the
Pov-Team moving to
the Internet (end of this moth, IIRC). I think it could be some kind of
theme for
the festival.

- Aside each one finishing her/his best image of the year, it could be
very interesting
to create a collective image, based upon the theme. It would be a
highly detailed image,
with perfect shapes, perfect textures, where you could see new things
each time you look,
where we put all the knowledge we gain since a year,... All we need is
many coder-artists,
and someone to do the artistic coordination. If the idea is accepted,
count me as a potential
candidate for the coordination (5 IRTC prizes, not too bad, huh ? ;o)

Cheers,
Fabien.

Hmm... Well, I don't know. IMO, good+good is not always better, i.e. the
works of many combined into one would not necessarily look very good.
There's the problem of different interpretations and the problem of
coordination. If many people work at an image, whose vision will they (agree
to) follow? Or when will the dispute end if they try to reach a consensus?
It's a potential tower of Babel in the making, I'd say.

That's right. Flaunt. But then, I probably would, too :)

If we don't try we will never know !
I don't believe this kind of project (if >5 people) has any chance to be a
winner in any competition because "good+good is not always better" as you
said, but it's a very good place for pleasure and sharing. With the final
image Ken's nephew will be able to say "see that Cadillac driven by Bruce
Willis : it's me !", and I will be able to say "see that wonderful sphere in
the background with the great white texture : it's me", and our moms will be
happy !
Fabien : if you need a white sphere expert, i'm in.

Hi Fabien

Sounds a interesting idea - It won't be easy - so come up with a concrete
idea and ,perhaps, some drawings that we can all see.

We can then opt for various bits

Count me in for the odd wave!

Very true.

One thing that you missed is that we will need people with scanners and a
place to post their drawings and interpretations of the collective
masterpiece, to decide on the best design. Paper rules, doesn't it? I mean,
look at Escher. (=

Alright. As long as there won't be disputes about composition. And I'm quite
sure there will be.
"Hey! Whose ugly red cylinder is blocking my beautiful white sphere?! Move
it!"
See what I mean?
Not that it wouldn't be an interesting project, of course. Just difficult
from an organisational perspective. If a functional framework can be
provided, I would be more than happy to participate.

Hey All lets be positive:-)

Here's a simple idea:

Take one RKO logo of the fifties, a radio tower with concentric rings of
waves emmanating from it. Lots of pov objects can then be placed on the
waves, surfin as it were...

We can all then contribute a simple object to go in the pic!

Just a quick idea off the top of my head. If there will be a collective
image, why not make a "render-time no object" scene and render it
collectively also? Everybody willing would be assigned a strip of the image
( perhaps variable according to projectd complexity of the segment), rather
like a render farm.

What do you think?

Better keep parse time in mind as well, though maybe it won't parse any
more than a few hours.
