I have understood that POV-Ray 3.1d for DOS is available, but I can't
find it anywhere. Where is it?

I believe comuserve is a mythical place the Pov gods go to relax
when they are not dreaming up new ways to torture our raytraced er I
mean retched little souls.

A straighter answer would be an online service like AOL (actually, owned
by AOL) which I would not be surprised to find was only accessable in
the states, though I could be very wrong with that assumption. It is
generally aimed at a much more technical audience than AOL..

Compuserve is (rather) worldwide, and was once the biggest online service,
but was swallowed by its younger competitor AOL later. AOL is also (rather)
worldwide, of course.
You can go to special areas by entering "go blabla", where "blabla" is the
name of the area. So "go povray" will take you to the povray area (or
whatever they call it, I myself have no access to Compuserve). E.g. a very
famous service is still "go swreg" for shareware registration.

It can be found at
http://forumsa.compuserve.com/gvforums/default.asp?srv=povray
This is an internet peephole into the POV-Ray domain. You can download 3.1d
from here, but
not much else

Are you sure??? Every time I tried to download the app or the source, it just
dumped me back to the front page. My guess is that only validated Compuserve
members can get at it.
:-(

Pov MSDOS v3.1d can be downloaded from povray.org. Use the link below
to go straight to the dos section where you will find the executables
and source. You may choose to wait a couple of weeks since there is a
bug in the bump map feature in v3.1d and they will be distributing Pov
v3.1e soon.

Nah, I downloaded from there too. I had the same problems too. But then I
found out, you must just use one of the buttons at the top ("download" it
says, IIRC). You'll get an ftp type directory listing, from which you can
download. But you can also try www.povray.org directly. This will work now.
