If any users are able to -consistently- reproduce the below bug, then we want
to hear from you. Please reply to this message and describe your system
configuration and how often it happens to you, along with any other relevant
information.

NOTE: please do -not- respond to this thread with comments about any other bug,
unless it also causes cmax101.dll to generate an invalid page fault.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Open any text file:
Select Editor:Codemax Properties:Keyboard (TAB)

This results in the following Error
"Access violation at address 00E584EB in module 'CMAX101.DLL' READ of
address FFFFFFFF"
Select "OK" in the error box.

In the Codemax Properties box selecting cancel or the close button does
nothing, selecting one of the other tabs or the OK button gives a page
fault in CMAX.
This page fault info is from selecting OK. The other tabs give page
faults at slightly different locations.

PVENGINE caused an invalid page fault in
module CMAX101.DLL at 014f:00e56ea6.

Windows 95 4.00.950 B and IE 4.0 4.72.3110.8 as shown in My Computer
Properties.
233MMX Intel Pentium, two 32 Megabyte SDRAM 66MHz (note that one is 3.0V
other 3.3V; IBM never replied to any emails about this), EMM386.EXE
loaded by Config.sys using RAM switch (had i= and x= too but I since
removed to check this problem out, no change) and Files=40 Buffers=50.
Everything else is usual CDrom driver, IBM Antivirus, very minimal tsr
loading.

"Details" from 3 separate fatal exceptions while using Editor.exe (2 txt
files and one inc file) and the keyboard entries in system.ini below
these. I looked through the keyboard.inf file and everything appears
okay. Hope this is at least a little help. The keyboard tab has always
crashed the program, it never has been selectable without this happening
(tested on POV-Ray program too) using other fonts, etc.
Btw, this was done using the newer CodeMax Barry sent to me. Same thing
happens using either CodeMax, not any difference I can tell.

FWIW, in Delphi/BCB, the error "Read of address FFFFFFFF" occurs if a
pointer is not initialized, or nil. So some object is not constructed
properly or a read from a nil pointer was caught. I've never found out why
address FFFFFFFF and not 00000000 is the error address.

So the Codemax people should better check all constructors/lists/resource
reads etc.

CodeMax is written in C++ using Microsoft Developer Studio. It's not VCL-based
at all.

I've made some tests here, and I have located the bug as appearing with
winamp 2.91 running, anyone else get this ??
The bug doesn't appear unless I have winamp up... :-/ Time to use
another mp3 player...

Same problem. I still think "reading FFFFFFFF" really means reading a nil
pointer somewhere. So the Codemax author should still check all the things I
mentioned,
 although in his C++ code.

It's of course hard to find an error if you can't reproduce it. But just
re-reading your code after a while sometimes shows you the mistakes you
made. It normally helps me (but I must admit, it's really time consuming).
The best thing would be, to let someone else (equally experienced) read the
code too.
