Hello
I  just posted on povray.binaries.utilities the new version of my tree
generation macro (Povray 3.1). Rendered examples are in
povray.binaries.images.
It can create different kinds of trees & bushes, leafy or not, with
roots or not, gnarled or not (no pine tree though, I save that for the
next version !). You can define your own leaves with a leaf generation
macro. It can exports to *.inc files.
There's still a lot of room for improvement...

hehe, great, I'll get at it.. Well, I guess my tree creator program is out of
buissness now, not so? feels good with competition. :-)
or... should I recode it to use your code ?? hmm, I don't know. Tell me folks,
is it wanted with a java/delphi/pascal version of the macro, to create a .inc ?

Hehe, if you hadn't made an (excellent) tree creator program out of my (and Rudy
Velthuis') tree creator macros, I wouldn't have thought it was that interesting at
all, and I wouldn't have tried to improve it ;).
The present version is much more complex and takes in a really silly number of
parameters. A windows interface could be very useful if the macro proves itself
good at something beyond the few examples I provided. Personally I'm going to make
some macros for building windows and balconies, because I'm sick of trees for now !

I for one would love to see a windows interface, being a coding-impared modeller
person
:)

A little version or plugin to export to moray would be ideal :)

it was agood way to fine-tune my recursion knowledge :-)

other question, how many in the group have JAVA 1.1.x or 1.2 up and running??

I'll need to know if I'll do it in JAVA or pascal/delphi.

if I do pascal/delphi, a c version isn't far away(*nix) and if I do JAVA , it's
more or less avaiable on all platforms.
yes, I know, make an applet. but then the code would either be emailed to you,
or out-put in a string-buffer..

Give comments while I'm away.

Ken prefers a standard executable file. The java programs I have worked
with before are unreliable, resource intensive, and crash my system on
occassion. java BAD, exe GOOD !

Ken obviously has good taste (although those using non-Windows
platforms may disagree as the Unix, Amiga, BeOS etc. etc. versions
take time to appear).

Spider

The race is on.  I feel a biomorph macro comming on (using some
of Gilles' code of course). 

I'll have to get the family out of the house for a few days first
though or I'll be hounded by requests to eat, sleep, wash, and
take part in some things that the family like to do together like
say hello to visitors and things like that.  When the family are
away I tend to take the batteries out of the doorbell and put a
sign in the window saying "Beware of the Dog".
