Color fringes, anyone?
I've updated my web page on color dispersion to include links to unofficial
compiles for MS Windows and Mac. Now all you non-programmers can enjoy this
new feature!
Also, some notes from someone who added the patch to his own private linux port
which may help anyone wanting to "do it yerself".
I've been very busy helping the creators of these ports, and various users with
special projects, plus everday life (gotta do the laundry, etc.) and still
haven't rendered any interesting images using dispersion. Amazing, the creator
of this patch hardly has a chance to use it! Oh well, that's made up for by
all the new amazing images I expect to see in the IRTC (www.irtc.org) using
dispersion....

Is this identical to the patch that Mike has on his site ?
If not what are the differences/advantages/disadvantages ?

A common lament indeed... I got my warm fuzzies from seeing my name
in the txt file for the technical merit runner-up, even if it wasn't
for the superpatch.

Hi Daren,
Love the dispersion ... but ... Mike Paul (Wyzard) has released an update to his
reflection patch which cures a nasty artifact in the reflection blur code that
you've also included, in the Windows version at least.
Try the attached pov file to see the effect I'm refering to.

Yes and no, we only added the dispersion patch to our unofficial compile
for macintosh (ppc and 68k/fpu/non-fpu).
We also included the spheresweep patch and and the spline patch.
There are also some differences between our unofficial compile and the
official compile for the Mac.
We have some nice template forms to speed up creating scenes, you can
use them in combination with the built in editor wich allows for
multiple open files.
Rendering speed improved also,... just take a look and try it!
That's if you have a mac :-)
Note: we have taken advantage of Mike's hard work to port the dispersion
patch to the windows platform.
We used his modified sources, so in that way the dispersion patch is
exactly the same.

This would be directed at me, since the windows compile is my handywork.
I've just finished up a project, so I should be able to update the patch
with his new code. The colored reflection sounded like something I
wanted to do anyway.
As kind of an open letter to Ron, think you'll be adding the dispersion
to the superpatch soon? I didn't really intend my compile to become an
on going project, just a temporary thing until you had it ready.

I intend to, yes, but the version you had sent me didn't work so
well, at least in part because I already had Wyzard's patches in
there. I've since gotten a patched version with just the dispersion
stuff, and I hope it will merge better.
