Using POV, does anyone have some specific methods of going about placing a
bmp or whatever onto an object that will allow you to position it easily?
Whenever I use image_maps it seems to take me forever to get it
positioned/scaled how I want it. Also; since the image map wraps completely
around the object once; how would I do just a part of the object? example:
a box; I have a logo to go on the upper half of one of the sides. How I see
doing this is by creating a smaller box; putting the image map on that, then
placing it to line up with the bigger box with say .001 higher (where the
image is). But what about with a sphere, or some more complex object?
Any ideas/insights appreciated.

On c.g.r.r. I just now posted a reply to translating and scaling
image maps. You might want to check it out. For the application
of an image map to a specific area the once keyword is very handy.
I had another idea on applying image maps to certain areas that
I need to test still so I think I'll stop at this point and get back to
you if it's succesful.

Oh ! Gee ! it's mentioned in the docs isn't it ?
c.g.r.r. is the usenet newsgroup called comp.graphics.rendering.raytracing .
It too is a haven for povray users and in fact for a long time people without
compuserve accounts found that the only place to discuss the use of this fine
program. There is still considerable traffic there relating to pov but is seems to
be dropping more and more as awareness of this server gains more popularity.

Hmm...
I suffer a problem...
my news server... *sigh*
It is fast(satellite connection), has almost the whole news-series (all groups, few
exceptions)
But... The time limit is severe... it kills messages in a far more rapid way than is
enjoyable, in high traffic groups, below 24 hours...
Is there a news server on usenet that doesn't do this ???

Mine is pretty good at holding messages. It too has the entire usenet
directory available. I get my sevrvice through my telephone comapany.
It's one of the Bell telephone subsidiaries that survived the AT&T
monopoly break up a few years back and they must have considerable
storage capabilities. Some groups have messages dating back a couple
of months. The VERY active ones, like the cracks groups, about 2 weeks.

Is it better for you to use dejanews? I looked and it goes back to at least
