I just want to say that I know what you must be going through, and I
appreciate your dedication. I just wish there was something I could do, to
contribute to the Pov-Ray community, as well.
Maybe I should just sit down and shutup more often? =)

Dear all,

And more support from me, just a great service that would really need to be invented
if it wasn't already.
Well, I guess some down time showed us how much we like it. It also is a sign, I
guess, of how much work has been put in to restore a new and better news server ...
success is not easy to manage, isn't it ?

Best of luck to the lads doing the job,
Al.

Go to the povray site and order the IRTC CD.
Read the text there to find out why.

 take to heart.

Listen up people! We are benefiting from the unselfish efforts
of some great people.

They are too decent to tell a jerk to FOAD. I am less decent.

I shouldn't write anything more.

Not as much as I want to ... too busy.
But I keep up, especially with the IRTC.

I would like to say thanks to the Pov Authors for your great program and
news server whatever and whoever it is with. I could never repay you. The
painstaking things you do for us to keep this newsgroup running is
incredible and I personally appreciate it, though some don't. I am still
very new to your program and get alot of help from this ng. I have met some
interesting people and made a few friends here .. and the images are too
cool. A special thanks to Skeezix for introducing me to this great program
and one goes to GrimDude for all your patience in helping me and one to All
who reply to my posts. Looking toward tomorrow .. cya later 8-)

People like this *obviously* have no idea what it's like to try to
maintain an unreliable news server. Being a previous newsbastard, I
do.

Thanks guys.

Whoa, hey I sincerely appologize people. I do know what it's like to
provide a service that people have come to rely on. And, believe me, I
know what happens when that service is disrupted and you have to take
all the flack. My main point of contention was that I didn't know what
was happening and believe me, when I don't get my fix of POV news
every day I get withdrawal.

I DO APPRECIATE the efforts of our heroic admin person, ( I'm not
being facecious ), and most humbly ask his forgiveness.

"people like this", indeed ! :)

Several years ago I was called upon to install a network. Actually, it
was a migration from 3-COM's 3-plus share to Lan-Manager, ( For you
kids out there Lan-Manager was Microsquats pre-NT networking OS )
After several all-nighters I finally managed to get the system up and
running. I arrived at work on a Monday morning at 8am after finishing
the installation at 2:30 the same morning. Needless to say I was a bit
tired and cranky. At 8:01 I had a line of five people outside my space
ranting and raving about not being able to print and then one guy just
had to get on my case about how his screen saver didn't work any more.

Yeah, "been there done that", but I still love doing it.

Yeah! Stick it to him! This service is GREAT! It has minimal SPAM which
seems to have turned most other
newsgroups into irritating black holes of messages such as "Make a
Million Dollars...." or "Brand New Adult Site".
Why don't these people learn that if people go to a specific newsgroup
for a specific topic, they don't want to see
this "junk email"?!? I mean, annoying advertisements is one of the main
reasons I watch very little TV anymore.

Well, enough of my rambling.... I am just trying to say that I would
rather put up with the server going down
every once in a while, then deal with annoying ad in places they don't
belong.

PS this rambling is my own opinion and please don't flame me for it
