Can anyone that's entering the competition, verify in which way they
are preparing themselves to submit their entries?
At the moment, I'm just concentrating on my image, but I can see
difficulties ahead for me especially with the text that's needed and
the time that might be left.
Has anyone started their text stuff yet? Or, are you leaving that
until last?
And lastly... How is it all going for you? Sleepless nights?
Relentless Rad, Worrisome Warps? ;)

As always, I have a bozillian things left that I want to add to my scene.
And, as always, render time is getting longer...
I'll probably leave the text file until last. I figure on leaving perhaps 2
weeks to get the final render(s) working and looking nice. That should give
me time to fix any "last minute" problems.

I don't need sleep! Sleep is for wimps! When in doubt, pinky out!
(Spongebobish reference)
I don't think I ever made it to bed before midnight this week. For me, it
seems like I have to pour myself into the task as much as possible before I
lose interest. I'm hoping to be "mostly done" by mid September.
So far, I haven't run up against any problems that seem unsolvable without
making large sacrifices (which often happens to me). But I really
approached this from a perspective where I had the option of leaving out
certain things if I couldn't get them working, without destroying the
overall scene.
I'm really in-love with my idea, which helps a lot. In fact, you should
probably just give up now. Turn off your computer and go home. Everyone
else, too. Did I mention that I'm actually making 3 entries? Yep, all the
good prizes will be gone. Don't bother trying, because you're just going to
fail*.

*Except for the "I'm really in-love with my idea" part, please don't take
this paragraph seriously. I'm actually looking forward to seeing some
amazing achievements (by others) during this competition. But yeah... 1st
place would be nice... :-)

Well, I'm at 4+ hours render time with mine, and a 700+ Mb Wings
folder is the result too... :/

"Is that the right texture for that...<insert thing>?" Heh... :)

Yep. I've had about three 'all-nighters', and tomorrow we have a
Bank Holiday. WooHoo! No work. Apart from Poving of course... ;)

I know what you mean. I've kind of done the same thing apart from
my backup image will use a component from the first image and will be
totally different, (hopefully! If that is indeed the case...)

LOL! When you win, can I send you my MegaBytes PoV file to render
for me? :)
Good luck to you and all.

Only a month and a half left..
I donyt think I'm gonna finish in time. I expect at least a monthlong render
leaving me only 15 days to finish it. Even without sleep thats not very
long. How is everyone else doing?

If you're 1280x960 render is going to take a month, how will you have time
to render it for an appropriate poster size? (assuming you hope to win)
I'm not even close to the "tweaking" period yet, when I start touching up
all of the textures, making objects less square, etc. I'm hoping to get
some more done on my models/objects in the next week. I'd like to have it
fairly complete by Sept 15, which should leave ample time for rendering and
tweaking. The way it's looking now, if I get it to render at around 5pps,
I'll be happy. Personally, I'd be worried about any render that takes more
than a week (at 1280x960), especially since you also have to produce the
detail views at that same size.
Good luck to you. I'm looking forward to seeing some really nice renders in
a couple months. :-D

Not even finished with basic modelling, and I've got to leave town for 4
days tomorrow, and then I'll be gone the 1st week of Oct, so unless I
have an inspired breakthrough in between this one looks out of reach :-(
If it's still looking hopeless by the 15th I'll probably switch tracks
and do an IRTC entry instead, I like the Toys and Games topic.
Looking forward to POVComp though whether I get an entry in or not.
Should be some good stuff to look at.

I've had to give up on mine I'm afraid. I have been away on holiday for the
last week, and am going away on business for the next 2/3 weeks, I just
won't have the time to get anything that has any chance of winning.
Look out for something in pbi when I get back!

Ive written all the scene objects as seperate inc files so as im working on
one thing i can easily switch the rest of the objects off to save parse
time.
Im not using any external model tools or other peoples includes.
and as for the text and sleep welll, thats all coming up ...lol
sleep after the text. I might even get a second one entered....but not as
good
All the textures and files m using i started from scratch for this.
