After cloth simulation, another element of my next image, a bread loaf. The
crust please me enough, but I'll work a little more on the bread.
Comments welcome.

WOW.
That's looking fantastic :)
Add a Swiss-cheese texture to the bread to give it the usual porosity, and maybe
use some sort of isosurface or heavily distorted cubes to do the cut bread
surface to give it that jagged crumbly texture. A few loose crumbs on the
plane would add to the realism.

Really excellent work - that must have taken a long time to code and get the
textures just right.

Thank you :-)

Yes, that's the point that doesn't please me the most, I wish to improve it.

I thought about it too, but it may take me too much time (I want the whole image
to be completed this month). And anyway this may be not that visible in the
final image, this bread is not the 'main character' ;-)

Yes, I think about this too, but here too it may be overkill in the final image.
The image attached is just a test for this object in particular, which will be
used with others in a different context.

Thanks again. It's taken me one week, on the evenings and week-end afternoons.

The crust look prety convincing.
It that bread is seen from a distance, maybe partly obscured by other
objects, it can be qualified as good enough. It's not good enough for a
closeup.
For the interior, you should use an isosurface using the crackle pattern.

Honestly i would not eat yours.
It reminds me when we was shopping in USA and we found some cookies
which said on the poackage
"NO WHEAT"
"NO SUGAR"
"NO FAT"

so we wondered what might be inside, We bought some and tried one of them.
And then we gave the whole plastic-cookies back.
Thats phantastic in USA, you canb eat something and then give it back.

Doesn't work here.
A better version, that really llooks like Bread (using Blender) you can see
here.

Thanks for your comment and the suggestion for the interior. I'll think about
it.

Thanks for your comment. I'll try do my best to make it more appealing.
Thanks for the link, but I'm not using Blender.

Reminds me of my image back in 2009: Vanitas. I seem to remember that
the bread was not created by me. I shall try to dig up the code.

It is an image_map used as a height_field. Created by StephenS for a
Moray tribute back in 2003. I don't think that is the way you want to go?

You Dutch have an advantage there: The stuff you folks put your butter
onto isn't real bread anyway :P
