Hi,
Not the scene I was hoping to produce, my original idea was far more involved. I
was planning on a battle scene with multiple types of insect working together,
some media based explosions ants being fried by lasers etc.. If only I had the
time/skill it would be out of my head and on my screen ;-)
Instead I ended up filling the blank space where all the action was going to be
with random easily modelled (or in the case of the lantern previously modelled)
CSG objects.. Had a bit of an issue getting the honey to look how I wanted it,
there is a bit of SSLT not really the colour I was hoping for but I have had
enough of working on this image now and am going to be busy between now and the
deadline so will take a pov break. :-(
As tc-rtc does not have a source upload area I will upload the source to the
scene files group, it is all SDL just the .hdr probe will be missing and it
contains the ant model I said I would upload previously..

Fantastic!
I find little to 'criticise' :-) The honey that you mention has the
right colour. However, there are so many types of honey hues that you
can feel safe over a wide range. The SSLT is adding the necessary touch
to it though.
You can upload source to the TC-RTC Forum, in the Modelling section.
However, for POV-Ray models that does not really make sense and p.b.s-f
seems more appropriate to me indeed.
Good work!
Thomas

Decoy? As in this isn't your real entry and you'll have the real entry on the
last day? Seems the competition is heating up! Wonder what mcgregor will do?

Thanks Thomas, did not realise there was a source upload area, I have not spent
enough time on the tc-rtc forum. I always liked the source being linked to the
images on the old irtc site but it is good to know for future reference that we
can put them on that forum as well.

Nope, this is it I am afraid ;-) I will leave the last minute submissions to
Robert, I never like to go too near a deadline just in case I miss my chance.
The decoy is the poor ant that is sacrificing himself to allow the crack team to
climb onto the alien via the spoon. I originally tried having a large group of
ants behind the alien but it did not look right so went for the more subtle
attack via the spoon.

Good and big work - but you know it. Your CSG model's are awesome.
I can't imagine how much times and tries to achieve this result.
Congratulations.

Thanks, yep, plenty of trial and error required for the tripod, funny before I
started I thought the legs were going to be the tricky part and the head easier
but it turned out the other way.

Same scene just different lighting to make use of the Tripod's lights, seems the
little ant may just be out of view..
